Synopsis
Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is sent to a Norwegian research station near the South pole, where a buried space ship has been discovered. The Norwegian team have also found an organism that apparently died in the crash thousands of years ago, but it now waking up from its hibernation.. When an experiment fails and releases the alien from the ice block, Kate and the expeditions pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), must fight side by side with the Norwegians to stay alive. But when they discover that the create is a parasite that disguises itself as any living being it consumes, the terror fully sets. Nobody knows who they can trust...

The Thing is the prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 classic with the same name.
